Development Project Manager

Position Description

In this role you will be assisting with early-stage Greenfield land acquisition and development efforts for renewable generation projects (mainly solar PV). You will work directly with the technical, land, and development teams to identify, secure, and advance optimal Greenfield sites to cultivate a pipeline of viable, competitive solar sites. Additionally, you will work closely with the various internal departments, local jurisdictions and utilities to ensure successful site development including permitting, incentives, interconnection, and registrations/certifications. You will have the chance to assist in the presentation of applications to local jurisdictions and provide regular reporting of land development status to management and external parties. It is a great opportunity to polish your skills specific to identifying and evaluating prospective sites, obtaining land surface rights, and managing relationships with landowners and other stakeholders. Job Overview

Employees in this role assist in the development and execution of plans for new renewable generation projects. This job coordinates allocation of resources, schedules, and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position participates in all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed timely and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and facilitates the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result
  • Coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and/or financial negotiations
  • Supports due diligence activities with other internal groups, including legal counsel, to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Manages consultants, external stakeholders and other third parties to ensure project success
  • Manages budgets, milestones, schedules and deliverables for assigned development projects consistent with Core Solar targets
  • Assists in the drafting, advice and negotiation of contractual arrangements for project development alongside internal groups
  • Ensures and tracks compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and/or members of the community to enhance the positive and strategic position of Core Solar in various target markets
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Solar and Energy Development Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the power industry is required and proven utility-scale energy project development experience is a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of the full-life cycle of utility-scale renewable energy generation development and marketing is required
  • Solid understanding of generation interconnection, permitting, real estate, title issues, state/federal regulation, utility procurement goals and drivers, policy, law and other issues that affect development of renewable energy projects is required
  •  Solid understanding of ISOs/RTOs, industry trends, BoS costs and PV equipment is required

General Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Science or other business-related degree
  • Independent self-starter who can meet deadlines and deliver quality products with minimal oversight
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team in multiple locations on short notice
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce and other software used to develop solar projects
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve multiple issues on multiple projects under demanding schedule constraints
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with problem-solving diplomatic abilities


  • MBA or relevant graduate degree is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated successful delivery of solar PV projects into construction and COD is a plus
