Greg is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Core Solar, LLC. Mr. Nelson has over 20 years of professional energy project consulting and development experience. Mr. Nelson also serves as the CEO of Energy Renewal Partners (ERP), a leading environmental consulting and engineering firm to the energy sector.
Mr. Nelson is a senior advisor to the energy sector and has held leadership roles supporting global energy development projects and transactions with Topaz Power (Riverstone Holdings), ARCADIS (UK), and Stantec. His career has focused on delivering utility-scale energy projects to and for many of the largest and most successful energy companies in the US and abroad. His technical background includes conducting and leading due diligence, resource assessment, regulatory strategy, siting, permitting, financing, and construction of solar, wind, biomass, and natural gas projects. Additionally, Mr. Nelson is an expert in decommissioning and repurposing coal plants and similar industrial facilities on brownfield sites.
Mr. Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and economics from Middlebury College and studied business administration at the University of Nebraska.
Erika is the General Counsel of Core Solar LLC. Ms. Benson has over 15 years of energy and legal experience. She has expertise in various regulated and deregulated energy markets and has substantial transactional experience including negotiating and drafting Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), land lease agreements, easements, and Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) company agreements. She has been involved in advising foreign governments and multilateral banks on best practices to attract investment, develop REC and other incentive programs to integrate renewables into existing electricity markets. Erika has provided legal advice and recommendations on matters pertaining to the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Treasury, CFTC, FERC, Regional Transmission Organizations/Independent System Operators (RTOs/ISOs) and electric utilities on competition issues, transmission service rate structures, OATT compliance (Order Nos. 888, 890, 2000), transmission cost allocation, financial transmission rights, transmission capacity issues, merchant transmission development, safe harbor tariff recommendations, NERC reliability standards and penalties for non-compliance within California Independent System Operator (CAISO), Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO), Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) markets.
Erika recently was the CEO of her own consulting firm, Benson International Group, where she provided legal advice and counsel to energy companies, law makers, financial firms, Commercial and Industrial (C&I customers) and other large off-takers in the U.S., Mexico and other countries. Erika has been a Shareholder with Greenberg Traurig in Austin, Texas, Partner with Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP in Austin, Texas and an associate attorney with both Troutman Sanders LLP and Squire Patton Boggs LLP in Washington, D.C. She has also served at the U.S. Department of Energy as a Senior Advisor for the Americas and worked at the Energy Information Administration and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in the Office of Market, Tariffs and Rates.
Ms. Benson holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and a Juris Doctorate from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C.
John is the Senior Vice President of Core Solar, LLC. Mr. Lichtenberger has over 20 years of energy and utility experience in management, mergers and acquisitions, operations, strategic planning, and generation asset development.
Mr. Lichtenberger has held senior level positions with several leading global development companies and independent power producers (IPPs) including Gamesa, First Solar, International Power America, Inc. (now Engie), and SunEdison acquiring and developing utility-scale wind and solar projects. He also held senior level positions at the Lower Colorado River Authority, where he was responsible for generation resource planning, power plant operations, power purchase agreements, long-term power supply contracts, customer relationship management, and a risk management program.
Mr. Lichtenberger holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master of business administration degree, both from Texas A&M University.
Randy is the Senior Project Managerfor Core Solar, LLC. Mr. Jenks has over 30 years of energy experience in project and business development, corporate management and strategic planning, engineering, project management and finance, construction, and operations and asset management.
Mr. Jenks has held senior level positions with several leading independent power producers including OCI Energy, Edison International, Mission Energy, Terra-Gen Power and Diamond Generating Corporation developing utility scale solar, wind, natural gas and biomass projects. He has also held senior level positions where he was responsible for corporate strategy, business growth, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Jenks holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and is a registered Professional Engineer (CA).
